It is not surprising to learn that American women earn more than their sisters in Great Britain, but it is surprising to learn that the difference is as 3 to 1. From a return 'furnished by the Chicago Bureau of Labour it appears that the average earnings of j women there is equal to the average earnings of British men workers. Six trades were taken by the Government in determining the wage status of women. Wide differences were found in the earnings in the different trades, but the average for all the women is £1 10s Bd.
