ROME, March 7. The opening of the Kamarovski murder trial at Venice was marked with passionate scenes. Naumoff, speaking from the ironcaged dock, and sobbing throughout, related the full details of the crime from his first meeting with Countess Tarovska, and told how the fascination of the woman led him to promise to go from Moscow to Venice to murder Kamarovski as tho only means of preventing Tarnovska's threat to go to another lover.
The Judge expects the case to occupy sixty sittings, as there are 200 witnesses to examine. During their .imprisonment the prisoners learnt the Italian language. Countess Tarnovska is the victim or the intense hostility of the populace during the daily journey m a gondola to the court house. She displays extraordinary impassivity m Court.
(A previous message read: -The sensational trial of Nauinoff, a Russian, Prebukoff, a lawyer, and Countess Tarnaowski, a Russian divorcee, for tho murder of Count Kamarowski at Venice, m September, 1907, will commence at Venice to-day. The Countess's maid, named Perrier, has also 'been arraigned. At the time of the crime the Countess confessed complicity, alleging that Naumoff fell desperately m love with her. She was betrothed to Count Kamarowski, and Naumoff determined to get rid of the latter, whose life was insured for £20,000 m her favour. Prelukoff confessed that tho countess the murder to get the insurance money).
