WELLINGTON, December 10; I , The City Council ' held a special meeting to consider the demand from the Hospital Board for '£5488, as the Council's share (amounting to eightyeight one. hundredths) of the cost of erecting an infectious diseases hospital, the'tenders for which have been closed. The Mayor protested.'that the new hospital was too extravagant, and the demand on the Council was more than it could afford to pay % It was resolved to refuse to pay. A committee will consult with the hospital trustees.
