THE PREMIER'S MOVEMENTS
Per Press Association,
AUCKLAND, October 1. The Premier and his parfejr and the other Ministers who have been in Auckland during the past few days left for 'Wellington by this evening's express. The Premier's party consisted of Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, Miss Ward, Mr Gladstone Ward, Master Pat Ward, Miss Seddon, Miss Rubi Seddon, Messrs J. Hislop and T. G. Matthews (private [secretaries), Mrs Hislop and Colonel t Collins (Secretary to the, Treasury). The other Ministers who took their departure were the Hon. Messrs Carroll, Millar and Fowlds. A large crowd of people had gathered on the platform, and as the train was about to leave, cheers were given for the Premier, accompanied by the singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." Sir Joseph, standing on the platform of his carriage, acknowledged the compliment by saying "Thank you all. Kia ora, kia ora. Good-bye all." The guard's warning, " All seats, please," was the signal for further cheers, which were renewed as the train moved off. A number of malcontents had gathered outside the fence opposite the Premier's platform, and they made an attempt at a counter-demonstration, but the effort was lost in the sound of the cheering on the platform.
