Mr J. Foster Fraser, journalist and author, was a passenger for the south by this morning's express. He will commence his lecturing tour of the dominion at DuneeUn to-night.
The Hon. A./J\ Ngata, Minister in 1 charge of Native Councils and the Public Trust Office, was a passenger for the south this afternoon. He is to deliver a lecture at Timaru to-night, and will return north to-morrow afternoon. In view of the fact that native land legislation is to be introduced m the ensuing session ,_ Sir Ngata was unable to give any information on the subject to our reporter who saw him at the train.
Mr Bates telegraphed to-day as follows: Northerly strong winds to gale; expect unsettled and cloudy weather; rain is probable and rivers will rise; the glass will fall: a storm area appears to be approaching from the westwards, and a low pressure of the barometer may be expected after thirtysix hours. >
