PROTEST AND SYMPATHY.

DUNEDIN, June 24. At a meeting of the Trades and Labour Council to-night, resolutions wero adopted protesting against the prorogation of Parliament, and expressing the opinion that too many members of Parliament had shown a tendency to submit silently to the dictates of the Premier; and congratulating Mr Hogg on the able speech delivered by him in Parliament, and expressing the deepest regret that the_ statements made by him had caused his retirement from the Ministry.
