SYDNEY, June 4. To-day was the hottest June day for fifty years.

UNEMPLOYED AT BROKEN HILL.

Received June 25, 10.5 a.m. SYDNEY, June 25. There are still over 500 miners at Broken Hill unemployed, as a result of the late trouble.

HEAVY FLOODS.

NEWCASTLE, June 25. Heavy rains have fallen in Riverina, and the rivers are in high flood. Large areas of the low-lying lands are submerged, and a portion of Albury is flooded. The flood waters have isolated Tumberumba, and bridges and culverts have been washed away. MELBOURNE, June 25. Tho Murray at Wodonga is rising rapidly, and the lower parts of the town are flooding. Many places along the river report floods.

A LARGE NUGGET.

MELBOURNE, June 25. A 300oz. nugget has been unearthed at the Woahhawp mine, Ballarat.

THE PACIFIC CABLES.

Received June 25, 10.35 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 25. The Pacific Cable Board's estimate for the year ending March 31st next anticipates a deficit of £64,500.

VICTORIAN TAXATION.

NEWCASTLE, June 25. The miners' lodges have confirmed the action of their delegate to the Board in withdrawing all claims for a Coal Commission. The dissolution of the commission is viewed in some quarters with considerable alarm.
