AUSTRALIA'S POSITION.
LONDON, June 24. Mr Hall-Jones, High Commissioner for New Zealand, was among the guests at the Queensland dinner. The Earl of. Crewe, in proposing the toast, "Prosperity to Queensland," said he was quite certain that the same spirit which animated Queensland in sending troops to South Africa animated the whole of the Commonwealth to assist in attaining a general scheme of Imperial defence, which, while leaving full liberty to the different parts, may produce some systematic organised whole.
