HOCKEY.

A hockey match was 1 played on the Domain grounds on Thursday between teams representing the Ashburton and Doric ladies' clubs. The home team won the match by five goals to niL The first spell was uninteresting, but in the second half there were some good flashes of play on the part of members of both teams. Scores for Ashburton were secured by Misses ■Andrewes (2), Ada Thomas, Amy Stock and L. "Warner (one goal each). Mr F. Clark was the referee. Members of the visiting team, their friends, and members of the men's clubs (who were also playing a match) were entertained at afternoon tea by the members of the Ashburton Ladies' Club.. The Ashburton Hockey Club beat St. Andrew's Club by five goals to two. Mr H. A. Humphreys was referee. A team representing the Ashburton Ladies' Hockey Club will play a match with the Tuahine Ladies'" Club at Christchuroh to-morrow (Saturday).
