A PUBLIC WORK.
To the Editor. Sir, —In to-night's Guardian yon draw attention to a needed local froi'k. Considering that the suggested work lies at tlie outskirts of the Hampstead town district-,-and is used frequently by the general public, the said BbarS is imdoubtedLv justified in requesting other Bodies to assist—not alone in asphalting, but also in maintenance. I would advise the Board not to obligate themselves to maintain alone at their expense, or probably they ' will have to endure a lot of worry. The grading could be done at present; but leave the rest till ipurltf glimmer; ; : i " RATEPAYER. Ashburton, Jiine 19.
