EASTER MANOEUVRES.
A special district order by Lieuten-"ant-Colonel J. E, Hawkins, V.D., commanding the Canterbury military district, states that the whole of the troops ill the Canterbury district will bo mobilised at Easter. The Coast Defence forco will be stationed at the forts. The active field forco will encamp at Mount Somers, under the immediate command of the Officer Commanding the district. The Defence Cadets will operate with the Coast Defence force, ancl will encamp at Parau; and the rifle clubs will be disposed m accordance with a. subsequent order. A small hostile force will be furnished. The operations will include a march, attack, and defence, and an attack on a prepared position with shell and ball ammunition. To enable all officers and non-commissioned officers to command the unit they would command m war, efforts sliould be made to obtain as large a muster as possible. Returns asked for m D.O. No. 26/09 should be forwarded to the A.A.G. as soon as possible, to enable railway and other arrangements to be proceeded with.
