PUNISHING A SUNDAY SCHOOL BOY.
To the Editor. Sir, —With reference to the lot tor m last night's Guardian as io puni&bii'g a Sunday School boy, I have been a teacher m Allenton Sunday School for nearly lour years, and have had this samo boy m my class during the whole of that time. Seldom a Sunday passed without his insulting me m some way or other. Kindness was of no avail; [ found it absolutely impossible to control him. A short time ago we were fortunate m securing the assistance of a gentleman teacher, and .bought"it advisable to place this boy m his charge, thinking lie would have more respect for a man; but it has made no difference to his conduct. I would like "Observer" to know that the- boy's face was scratched, and blood on it before Sunday school began. Had lie. seen, on a previous Sunday, this boy throwing a packet of pepper m his teacher's face—being only one of the many insults which wo teachers have to contend with —he would judge less harshly, and have more sympathy for Sunday School teachers. MA UDE McLAUCHLAN.
