CRICKET.
THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM.
Per Press Association—Copyright. (Received February 19,-8 a.m.) LONDON, February 18. The Times regrets Hill's absence from the team, but thinks the inclusion of Ransford and Bardsley some compensation. Tho batting is exceptionally strong, but the bowling weak. Noble is regarded as an admirable captain. Sporting Life says that the bowling is doubtful. A. 0. Jones, writing to the Dany Mail, says that he is greatly disappointed at the choice of the remaining six. It is strange (he says) that the other selectors should have gone against Hill'o superior judgment, and perhaps the fact that McAlister is on the selection committee had something to do with his selection. He further says that the team is strong m batting, but weak m bowling. There is, however, a redeeming feature on the side of fielding. MELBOURNE, February 18. The Board of Control has decided to select Hopkins as fifteenth man. Noble has been appointed captain.
