MR NOSWORTHY AT WATERTON.
On Monday night Mr Nosworthy addressed a very fair audience of electors in the Library Hall. Mr John McLauchlan (chairman of the Longbeach School Committee) presided. Mr Nosworthy, who .was received -with" applause, spoke for an hour and a half, on the lines of his Ashburton speech. During the address, which .was well given, he was frequently applauded, and in reply to-questions he: said that the Government would have shown better judgment if they had paid more attention to roading the back : blocks previous to the making of railways, and so having these parts in a better position to take advantage of the rail when it came. That Mr Massey in voting for the additional loan probably saw that the time was opportune for so doing. He could riot consent to assist Mr Jones in the. event of a second ballot, should he (Mr' Norworthy) fail to get a place in" that ballot, and. Mr Jones should. He had also subscribed to the funds of the No-license party. On the motion of Mr Jno. . Watson, seconded by Mr R. Tout, the. candidate was accorderla vote of thanks for his address. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
