LONGBEACH DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of this Society was held in the Longbeach schoolroom on Friday, August 28th, when there was only a small attendance of members. Mr John Watson, one of the vice-presidents, took the chair, arid explained the object of the meeting. In reviewing the work of the year, he said that it was gratifying to report that, notwithstanding the very bad season last year, the general interest in the Society was well sustained, and -"\e membership showed an increase on +he roll of the previous year. The number of individual exhibitors at the last annual show showed a slight decrease— 60 against 70 for the previous year— but that was owing principally to the unsatisfactory nature of the season; and the interest 6hown at the last exhibition augured well for a much larger show next year. The receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of a little over £3.
Business of a routine nature having been gone through, the general rules of the Society azid the regulations of the exhibitors were read over and reconfirmed.
