WELLINGTON, July 17. At Taihape a young man named Myers lost his way in the bush, neat Paetiki. He fired a gun to attract attention, but the weapon burst and stunned him. He was found evehtu-a-lly by a search party. , A verdict of accidental death was returned by the jury which enquired into the death of Patrick , Finlay, wharf labourer, fifty-eight years of age. who was injured by some flax.falling on him at the Queen's wharf.
CHRISTCHURCH, July 18. When the storm of Thursday-after-noon sprang upl Mr B. Waller, of Lobnrn, was driving across the, Ashley river bed, and his horse, startled by the wind, kicked the front out of the gig. Mr Waller was thrown out,- and sustained a dislocation of his left elbow. Pother Hyland came to his assistance, and drove him into Rangiora, where he received surgical attention. The horse made off down_the river-bed-, and completely wrecked the gig. ■";■
