ASHBURTON V. RAKAIA.
Senior teams representing the above clubs.met in the Domain yesterday afternoon, and the visitors were defeated by 6 points to 3. The game throughout was evenly contested, the Rakaia team playing with more brilliancy than it has exhibited at any'previous match this season. Owing to the watchfulness of both teams, scoring was difficult, and very few chances were given. The taking" of both teams was far from being clean or clever, but the greasy condition of the ground :no doubt accounted for defective play in this connection. \shburton scored 6 - points (tries obtained by M. Daily and 0. Digby) in the first spell, and Rakaia had certainly the best of the game in the second half-—Ashburton playing with the sun in their eyes. Mr Geo. Ironside acted as referee. The following table shows the position of each Club engaged in the senior championship ■'—■* ;
