HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
WELLINGTON, December 2
The - Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable message from the High Commissioner, dated London, November 30:—
Frozen Meat.—Mutton—The market is quiet but steady. There is a good demand for prime quality. River Plate mutton is in largo supply and is being strongly pushed for sale at 3£d per lb; Canterbury brands 3Jd, North Island 3§d. Lamb—The market is cuiiet and stocks on hand aro light. The high prices asked for lamb are restricting business. There is a limited demand owing to the lateness of the season. Canterbury lamb sjfd, oiher than Canterbury'SJd. Beef—The market is steady with a moderate demand, especially for forequarters, which are quoted at 2|d; hindquarters average 3*d. Butter.—The. market is very firm, with a good demand. There is no immediate-., change in price anticipated. Choicest' New Zealand brands 118s, Argentine 118s, Australian 116s, Siberian -110s, and Danish 1235; unsalted butter Is less than the above prices.
