ASHBURTON RATEPAYERS' AND BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Ratepayers' and Burgesses' Association was hold in the Templar Hal] last evening. There was an attendance of five ratepayers, and Mr H, M. Jones was voted to the chair.
The president of the Christchurch Association wrote, forwarding circulars and information concerning the constitution and conduct of that body.—Received.
The sub-committee set up for the purpose of drafting a set of rules submitted its report, which was adopted.
Mr H, M. Jones was elected president, and the acting-secrefaary being unwilling to remain in office, Mr G. W. Andrews was elected to fill the vacancy ; and a temporary committee of three was appointed.
The matter of arranging for next meeting was leffc in the hands of the president and secretary.
Several matters of local interest, including the matter of upkeeping and purifying the Domain baths, the Willis street railway crossing, and conveniences for women and girls, were discussed at some length ; after which the meeting adjourned, with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
