sale, on the ground that a p^^^^^nventory had nob been taken to enable purchasers to know what they were bidding for. The auctioneer saidi he was selling under instructions from the Admiralty Court, and was secure in his position. The sale went on, but there were only two bids. The first was £?000 and next £3250, by Mr W. S Waterston, to whom the ship was knocked down. The auctioneer mentioned that- the vessel fetched £9000 eight years ago. -An impression abroad that the purchase was made on the owner's behalf was denied 'by Mr Razetto and Mr Waterston.
