THE NEW HEBRIDES.
SALE OF ARMS AND LIQUOR. (Received August 10, 7.26 a.m.) LONDON, August 9. In replying, in the House of Commons, to Mr J. B. Lonsdale, member for Mid-Armagh, Sir Edward Grey Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs) stated that no complaints-had been received from New Hebrides missionaries or Australian traders, but a representation had been received from the Australian Government, which Brv> tain was communicating to France— relative to the prohibition or the sale of liquor, etc., to natives. He hoped to recoive a favourable reply shortly, and trusted, in any case, that the provisions regulating the sale of arms ancl liquor would be brought into force in a few months.
