The Westminster Gazette states that the Australian offer of preference is most delusive, and amounts to removing one row of bricks after two have been added. ACCIDENTS TO DESTROYERS. The destroyers Kestrel and Teviot collided in the Channel. The Kestrel was nearly cut in two, in a similar manner to the Quail on the previous day. She was towed to Portsmouth. Eight destroyers have been damaged off Portsmouth in a fortnight. BRITISH TRADE. The Board of Trade returns for July show that the imports increased £3,----685,505, and the exports £7,009,369.
