MASTERTON WOOL SALES

MASTERTON, August 1. At the wool sales yesterday, the bidding for crutchings was more than usually keen. Good crutchings brought up to Gjd, medium 53d, low and inferior 4'Jd to sd; locks aand pieces, 3d to sid- Skins. —Crossbred up to BJ-d, short wools 5Jd to 6:jd> lambskins 7-} d to BJd. Hides sold at lower rates, in keeping with the markets elsewhere; ox 4J-tT to sd, cow 4Jd to 4-Jd, calfskins 6d to 7d.
Messrs Dalgety, and Co., Limited, have received the following cable mesisage from their London office, under date July 31: "The tallow" market is dull. Prices are unchanged, and there is less disposition to do business. There will be no public sales of tallow next week." .
