The Papakaio Murder
TRIAL ADJOURNED.
United Press Association—By Kleofcnr Telegraph
Dunedin, Nov 20
At the Supreme Court this morning, the Crown Prosecutor made an application of adjournment for Findlay, charged with the Papakaio murder, till the Oamaru sittings on February 5, owing to the absence, through illness, of three" necessary witnesses. It would greatly facilitate the trial, if the case were heard in Oamaru.
Mr Hanlon, for the prisoner, opposed the * application, but offered no objection to an adjournment for a fortnight until witnesses were well.
Judge Cooper fixed the hearing for Dec. 17th. If circumstances then justified a further adjournment, the application could be renewed by the Crown, but he declined to sanction an application for a change of the trial to Oamaru, seeing that the prisoner objected.
