High Commissioner's Report.

Wellington, Nov 12 The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, Nov. 11th:—Mutton—The market is speculative, and buyers do not seem to be inolined to make forward purchases on the prices now ruling. The shipments of mutton now arriving are very small, and high prices are restricting business. Canterbury brands are quoted at 6d, and North Island at 4|d. There is a better demand for lamb. Stocks on hand are light, and firmly held m ft few hands. Canterbury brands are quoted all s£d, and other than Canterbury "at 4fd. Buyers are not inolined to make forward purchases at present prices. The beef market is very firm, and supplies from River Plate are small. Hind and foraquarters are quoted at 4£d and 4d respectively. Wool.—The current quotations for Bradford tops are SB's, low crossbreds, Is 3£d per lb } 40'e, low crossbreds, Is 4£d ; 44's medium orosßbreds, Is 5d ; 50's, half bred, Is8d; 66'e, quatterbreds, Is lljd; 60's, merino, 2s l£d. The following are the arrivals of mutton from River Plate during October': -London, 47603; Liverpool, 143,372; Hull, 8924; Newcastle, 6241; Southampton, 1000 ; Plymouth, 1800 ; Cardiff, 1446; Glasgow, 2000.
