A BOER RAID.

London, Nov 10 It is officially announced that Ferreira, a Transvaaler, and several Hoars recently employed m German South West Africa, are raiding the north-west of Cape Colony, trying to organise a rebellion. They Burrounded and surprised police camps at Abeah and Witkop, wounding two troopers and capturing arms and ammunition. After gaining some recruits, Ferreira is marching on Zwartmodder, forcing farmers to join him, and asserting that a rising is imminent m tha Transvaal. The district raided is part of the desolate Great Bushman land occupied by a few graziers. Lord Elgin, Secretary of State for the Colonies, was at Downing Street late on Saturday night. Mr Winston Churchill, Under-Secretary, was out of town. Ferreira has not been identified definitely * Dr Jameson, Premier of Cape Colony, sailed for Cape Town on Saturday, and is unlikely to hear the news until he arrives at Las Palmas, Madeira. Received Nov. 12, 8.37 a.m. London, Nov. 11 The Agent-General for the Cape thinks that the raid is of little political importance and will soon be suppressed. He thinks it unlikely to reach the populated districts or towns. Capetown, Nbv 11 The Cape Government does not consider the rebellion serious, though the inhabitants may possibly be misled by exaggerated reports of Ferreira's successes. The Dutch leaders m Capetown, including Mr Hofmeyer, advise the settlers to support the Government, which has despatched forty troopers and scouts to intercept the raiders, and 150 Cape Mounted Rifles are starting for Friska immediately.
