Allegations Against a Constable.

Dunedin, Nov 10 Maurice Roach, who appeared in the dock at the Police Court this morning with a cub on the baok of bis head, alleged that he had been assaulted with a baton. by Constable touogj whose obugh he has mimioked. He alleged, further, that thp constable had assaulted him wifh the hand* ouffs. The magistrate, Mr Graham, ordered inquiries to be made from Dr Bloom&eld, who had seen the prisoner in the cell, as to whether the out was likely to have been caused by a fall or not. Personally, he doubted the constable's statement that the cut had been caused by the man striking the kerb,
