The Cause of the Accident.
Eeceived July 24, 8.23 a.m. San Fbancisco July 23 Captain Toung, Commander of the Ronnington, reports that the top lower furnace of one of the boilers blew off, forcing the boiler astern into another, which exploded, destroying the Bennington's inner works. The crew were calm and oollocted. They manned the pumps, closed the watertight compartments and flooded the raagazinef. The Earl of Cawdor has wired the British Admiralty's condolences.
