The attendance at the Axemen's Carnival in coaiieoiiion with the Exhibition was very large. Trains bring in many country visitors, Blanc and other Australians are competing in the handicap ohop. Blanc won the firs-t heat easily. Goold (Tasmania) w.s first in the second heat. G, Pretty in thu third.

The final handicap chop was won by Petty, with ®oold second nod B«?rg third. Many thought Goold won by a stroke. Time—2min 22sec, The lo^s were tough. The Maori chop was won by Coffey, with Letherby second and P. Coffey third, .
