Tinwald Town Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held last evening. Present—Messrs 0. Doherty (chairman), J. A. Clothier, M. Lag*n, T, Williams, and James Hampton.

The Chief Engineer of Eoads wrote, forwarding the new by Jaws respecting heavy traffic under the Public Works Act. —Received.

Mr T. Timms wrote, applyiug for the position of dog registrar.—lt was decided that Mr Timms be appo nted.

The Ashburton Town Clerk wrote, respecting the Conference to be held by local delegates re the fixing of the half-holiday.— Mr 6, Doherty was appointed the Board's delegate to attend the Jonfarence, the date of which will be fixed.

A letter was read from the same body with respect to the appointment of a delegate to attend a Conference for the purpose of appointing an Inspector of Health. —Mr Doherty was appointed. The County Council wrote, enclosing the County Engineer's reports on the flood water in the Tinwald district and stating that the Council was prepared to construct the relief channel providing the Boards interested were willing to contribute their share towards the coat, the appointment being as follows :—Longbeach and Upper Ashburton Road Boards .£2O each ; Tinwald £10 and County Council £2b —It was decided to accept the proposal ot the County Council. A letter was r«ad from Mr E. J. Guy, offering to make a supply of dog collars at a stated sura.—The offer was accepted. Mr W. Carroll wrote, asking that his name be taken off the roll for lot 43. — Granted on the usual conditions.

It was resolved to take action against certain ratepayers, whose fences encroached ou the roads and footpaths, the requisite notice having been given as provided by the Act.

The Clerk was instructed to interview Mr Bradley and ascertain if that gentleman was desirious of continuing the loase of the property he hold from the Board on the present terms, and if not, the clerk was instructed to pall tenders for the same before the next meeting of the Board.

Accounts amounting to M 18s were passed for payment, and the inee'ing then adjourned.
