PEK^ONAii.—When Constable and Mrs Brown left Temuka a short time ngo for Ashburton (says the "T«tnuka Leader") a number of friends decided to forward Mrs Brown a memento of their stay in the district, but the opportunity was not forthcoming. The matter, however, was not lost sight of, and last week a letter rovering a cheque was forwarded to Mrs Briwn expressing the good wisheß of the subscribers, and the hope that Mrs Brown would purchase a memento to commemorate their stay in the district. A reply has since been received from Mr Brown on behalf of his wife, thanking his friends for their kind wishes and handsome gift, which won M serve to commemorate the good feeling existing between themselves and their friends during their stay in Temuka.
