St Patrick's Day Sports Association.
A meeting of the committee of the St. Patrick's Day Sports Association was held last evening. Present—Messrs Geoffry Porter (chairman), W, Schwartz, C. Thomas, M. Fitzgerald, H. McElrea, Ttirtll, T. Hancox (treasurer), and Jas. Brown (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs D. Moriarty and W. Page. Correspondence was read from the Domain Board and received, and from Messr3 J. Studholme, "W. Shearman W. Bain, J. McLaclan, M.H.R., and Dr Hunter, accepting office as vice-presidents. Donations were received as follows :~Dr Hunter .£1 Ip, Mr J. Studholmo .61 Is, Mr T. Bullock 10s Gd, Mr W , Shearman 10s 6d. The secretary was instructed to write and thank the above gentlemen for their contribution?. Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs Oates Lowry, & Co., R. D. Johnston, and G. 11. Carson for contributing special prizes for the road race to be held on Thursday next. The secretary reported that 29 entries had been received for the road race, and it was agreed that the handicaps of the eompatitors who had not yet paid their entry fee should not be published until they had done so. On the motion of Mr Hancox, seconded by Mr Schwartz, Messrs W, Shearman, and D. Moriarty were appointed handicappers for the race; the prizo money was fixed as follows ; —lst, £2 ; 2nd, JCI; 3rd, 10s. Tho distance, as published in a former issue, will be from the north-west belt to. the Winchmore homegfcead and back. It was decided to ask Mr C. Chapman to act as naarksmau at Winchmore, while Mr J. V. deßesr was appointed as starter and timekeeper, and the Itev. Dean O'Donnell and the Mayor as judge*. The niaotmg further decided to ask H-s Worship the Mayor to formally open the season prior to the race, which will start at 5 p.m. sharp, so as not to clash with the combined schools sports. Messrs T. Morgan, E. Marsdan, "and J. Sandoe were elected new members, and the meeting then adjournecj.
