United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph. f Hokitiea, March 2 Ovar 7} inches of rain fell in 2i hours on Monday. The damage is rather more extensive than at first supposed, the county roads suffering severely. Traffic is interrupted at various points, through the approaches of bridges being washed out. Telephsno communication with the South is interrupted since Monday. The dredges in the Totara district have suffered some damage. The Chief Engineer of Roads is now on a yisit to Westland, and has gone gouth today.
