The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Hoard's offioe, West street, on Monday, February 29th. Present — Messrs D. McLean, E, Herring, M. Stitt, J. Tucker, and R. Purnnil, informnig the Hoard th it Iho requisite newspaper notices of the Hoard's intention to stop two roads ut. lia^hmor huve now been published, and the rujxfc si tip will be for the Board to call it meeting of the ratepayers of the district to consider tho proposed stopping. A resolution to this effect must be passed, and ■tho meeting must then be advertised. Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr .7. Tucker, that a general meeting of ratepayers be held on Monday, March 28th, at 12 o'clock noon, to consider the proposed stoppage of roads in the Laghmor subdivision, running between rural sections 17,292 and 20,834, 17,119, 17.289, 22,224, 17,134, 17,290-1, 15,fi69. 17,987, 15,668. 17,994, and 15,667.—Carried.
From the Receiver of Land Revenue, forwarding schedule of amounts of thirds (£3B 8a 2d) paid to the credit of the Board's account, Union Bank of Australia, Ashburton.
From Mr C. K. Black, notifying 1 the Board that it is his intention to move the house now occupied by him from the Board's reserve on to his own property adjoining, the house being so liable to flood.—The Board approved of Mr Black'a intention.
From the Valuation Department, drawing the Board's attention to section 5 of " The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1903." which amends seotioa 29 of " The Government Valuation of Land Aot Amendment Act, 1500," and erables clerks to local bodies to correct their rolls with regard to ownership and occupancy on receipt of notice of change, under section 52 of " The Rating Act, 1894." In future, therefore, the local body clerks will be empowered to alter the namos of owners and occupiers on the rolls, but it will still be necessary to refer to this Department for anything affecting the values of these assessments.
ROLL ALTERATIONS,
The clerk was instructed to submit the following to the Supervising Valuer, subject to all rates being paid to date:—Prom Mr Hugh Muirhead to Mrs Catherine Clifford, rural sections 24,439, part 10,093, 27,233, 25,219, part 125,251—290 acres, 0 roods, 3U-J- poles.
Tenders for gravel reserve. Alford Forest Road: Clsrk sta-ted no tenders received.
Accounts amounting to £71 6s Gd were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
