Ashburton Stock Market.
There was a much larger attendance than usual at t,he Ashburton stock yards to-day. Between 9,000 and 10,000 sheep were yarded, the pens being well filled. Bidding for sheep was rather slack. There was a small yarding of cattle, which sold well at late rates. In store sheep the entries were principally ewes, wethers, and lamb 3. Following are prices:—
Sheep—Fat Sheep—Crossbred ewes 10s 4d, 13s fid, 13s 9d, Us, 16s 2d, 163 3d ; webhers 15s, 15s 3d, 16s sd, 17s Bd, 17s 6d; butchers' lambs, 10s 9d, 13s, 13s 2d; merino wethers, 9s 6d, 9s 7d; ewes for freezing 13s lOd. Stores—Lambs, 6s 6d, 11s Id, 11s 4d, lls sd, 12s, 12s sd; ewes and wethers, 149 3d, 14s 6d ; wethers, 14s 7d, 15i; crossbred ewes, 13s Bd, 14s lid, 14s 6d, 15s 3d, 16s 4d, 16s 6d, 18s 9d, 17s Id, 17s 3d ; merino ewes, 12s 6d to 15s; aged crossbred ewes 8s lid, 9s, 9s 2d, 10s 9d.
