The Rangitata, Rakaia, and Waitakl rivers are fishable. We wish to remind our readers that the sale of property at the corner of Carter's Terrace (late Mr Thomas Sealy's) will take place at the Arcade on Saturday next, at 2 p.m. The financial officers of St Paul's Church* Christchurch, brought their collections for the Presbyterian century fund to an end last year. The sum raised by them for the fund was £2000 7s lid. A largo public meeting at Hokitika, last night, unanimously adopted the Borough Council's proposals to raise an additional loan of .£23,000 for drainage, water and sanitary works. The opening tea meeting m connection with the new Primitive Methodist Church at Staveley will be held on Monday evening, when a big attendance is looked for, no less than 500 tickets being m circulation. The ladies of tbe congregation are working zealously to secure the success of the gathering. Mrs McKnight, who was iujured m the buggy accident at Geraldine on Sunday evening, had two bones broken m her arm, as well as having her face painfully bruised and cut. She and her sister are both recovering as well as can be expected from the shock and injuries received.
