THE PRICE OF LAMB.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir—We notice in to-day's issue of the Guabdian, under the heading of " Ashburton Produce Report," you state "Lamb is now quoted at 4d up to 42lbs and buyers are indifferent," and further on that "it is anticipated that prices will recede. We don't know who your informant may be, but as our firm are the largest operators in lamb in the Ashburton county it might be as well if in future he would consult us before writing such a report. We are keen buyers of fat lambs at full rates at all times, and as far as we are concerned we do not at present contemplate further reducing our buying prices, which are based on our own ideas of value in conjunction with the weekly cables we receive from London. We do not depend on London for c.i,f. offers before we can do business.—We are, etc., Nicoll Bros. ,
