THE DUTY ON TOBACCO.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,-—Would you kindly insert this letter seeing that we smokers have for a very long time borne the woeful 3s 6d per lb on ! tobacco. I would like to ask Mr McLauchlan, M.H.R., if h.e would use his efforts to reduce this shameful duty of 3s 6d per lb. Seeing that this is Coronation year, we smokers ought to have at least 2a per lb reduced.— I am, etc., George Cates.
