MEXTED, a well-known Contractor, resident m Nelson street, Petone, 1 has been ill for OVER TWO YEARS, with ; CANCER IN THE BOWELS. First six months had constant craving for meat, had to have meat at meals at least twice a day. He says: —-"Treated by two local doctors, at end of six months the doctors decided to put me under chloroform for examination and operation. Placed on milk diet for three days previous, and wasted to a shadow. After examination it was decided to send me to the Wellington Hospital for operation. A hard lump or ridge had been growing for some time at the tipper part of the abdomen, and blood and pieces of flesh resembling the lung of a sheep was passing from me daily. 1 was m the Wellington Hospital two months. Was operated on, and under examination the doctors told Mrs Mexted that the trouble was cancer m the bowels, and was practically incurable. Was taken from the hospital m that condition, being taken to my home on the ambulance stretcher, and m such a weak state they did not think I would reach home alive. Was carried to my bed, and for weeks lay between life and death. As time went on the doctors ceased calling, telling my wife that my case was hopeless and they could do no more. I was worn away to a skeleton, and daily passing the matter above referred to.
