Mr Conan Doyle, Mr Gilbert Parry, Captain W. R. Russell, Dr. John Logan Campbell, Knights. Sir J. Gordon Sprigg, the Cape Premier ; Sir E. M. Satow, British Minister to China, Grand Crosses of the Order of Sfc Michael and St. George. Hon. W. L. Allardyce, Receiver-General at Fiji; Mr W. Hepworth Mercer, Crown Agent for the Colonies; Mr George Leake (recently » deceased), Premier of Western Australia j Colonels O. Tunbridge, Queensland, and Bauchop, New Zealand, Commanders of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. An Order of Merit has been instituted the recipients including Lorda Roberts, Wolseley, and Kitchener, Lords Rayleigh, Kelvin, and Lister, the Right Hon. John Morley, Admirals Keppell and Seymour, and Mr G. F. Watts, the Royal Academician. The South African honours include :— Lieutenant-Colonel Wools Sampson, to be Commander of the Bath and Honorary Colonel in the British Army. Colonels C. W. Cox, New Sooth Wales, Wachorn, Tasmania, Porter, New Zealand, Kelly, New South Wales Medical Corps, Colenbrander, of Kitchener's Fighting Scouts, Companions of the Bath.
