Mr John Stewart, chairman of the School Committee, occupied the chair, and said that the object!) of the gathering was to welcome borne Troopers 0 E and W Gray They had been twelve months in South Africa, and be w&b glad to say had re* tamed safe and -sound (Applause) Mr W Gilmour, Dnnsandnl, said that fea occasion of tout kind was something new to him Hebritflf eulogised the work done by the troops io Sauth Africa He expressed himself as pleiUed At the fact than the mm had returned hale and nearby Mr GHmour then presented each trooper with * gold medal, subscribed for by the rasidante of the distrioti In doing to, he wishtd them long lives and happy ones (Applause) Trooper W Gray returned thanks Ha desired to gi away and see wh»t tha coaotry was like, and took pub in coma engagements as well Troopar U E Gray thanked them for their kind remarks, and was glad to be home among them again
