The half ynarly meeting of the Ashburton Club am? M.S.A. was held last night. The balance sheet, which showed s profit' ou the half year ef over £400, was read aud adopted. Is larger than ih»t made in any previous year, and reflacte great oredit on the manager , and the Committee of Management, all of whom were highly complimented on the manner in which the affaire of the institution nad been conducted. The sum of £3 3s was 1 tfoted to Mr Whitaker, ihe manager, for acting afi scrutineer at the reoent election of officers and committee Mr Whitaker thankad the members for their generosity and kind remarks, and stated that he would accept the gift, but would donate it as follows;—£l is to the Old Mnn's Home, £1 is to the Hospital, and £1 Is to She Samaritan Home, Ohristohuroh c
