THE ACTOR SCORES.
Commenting on the remarks about himself in Mr Iveas 1 Geraldine paper, Mr Henry told his audience at Geraldine on Wednesday that his opponent did not appear to know much. For instance he had said that:—"lt was with considerable difficulty the irate actor managed to read Mr Twomey's ungrammatical composition." Nowhere is a , man who has made newspapers all over New Zealand, and considers himself a journalist) of some standing. He is calling in question what he terms the composition of a fellow journalist, but I would remind him of the unfortunate couplet he quotes at the end of his own article. Here it is:— " Ycu may break or scatter the yaw "yon will, And the scent of the roses will htma round itatill." | What a glaring misquotation for a journalist of ao much experience, and who is such a wonderful authority on the English language! The correct version of the couplet is :— "You may break, you may shatter the vase as jou will, But the scent of the roies will cling round it still,"
