SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Asliburton. The ordinary meeting of the Aehburton School Committee was held on Monday evening. Present—Messrs Craighead (chairman), McOallum, Steel, Phaup, Meddins, Rule and Silcock. FINANCE. The Chairman stated that the credit balance at the bank was £34 19s 7d. CORRESPONDENCE. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt) with. master's report. The headmaster reported the number on the roll, 382; highest attendance, 345 j j average for past) four weeks, 305. j TRUANT OFFICER. It was recommended that the truant officer should visit each school during the last week m each month, to obtain a list of names of children whose attendance was irregular, and for other information. ALLENTON. The number of children on the roll at this school was reported to be 62 j highest attendance, 57; average, 50. HOLIDAY. Friday next, 17th inst,, being a general public holiday, it was resolved that) the schools be closed on that day. VISITING COMMITTEE. Messrs Steel and McCaltum were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month, with power to deal with certain necessary repairs. CARETAKER. Mrs Smith was granted an extra 15s for cleaning the Allenton school after the Sunday services, ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £2 5s 7d were * passed for payment, and the meeting concluded,
