The Drought Sydney, May 14. The Railway Commissioners have decided to allow a rebate of 25 per cent on the fodder carried for the purpose of saving the starving cattle in the drought-stricken districts.

Perth, May 14 Mrs Ackerman, a widow, formerly resident at Timaru, New Zealand, succumbed to burns received when her house afc Kalgoorlie was destroyed by fire. The woman escap d, but returned into the burning building to search for her daughter, wh,o was lying ili of typhoid fever. The daught* r had in the meantime been removed, but the mother was unaware of this.
