ASHBURTON MARKETS.

Mr David Thomas reports upon the live stock market for the week ending January 12:—On Tuesday the weekly stock sale was held at the Tinwald yards, when 1183 sheep, 28 head cattle, and 6 pigs came forward for sale, of which my entry comprised 780 sheep, 16 head cattle, and 2 pigs. The yarding in sheep consisted chiefly of crossbred ewes and lambsj the latter being in demand, and sold at the following prices —7s 6d, 7a 7d, Bs, 8s 3d, 9s 4d to 10s 9d each; fat crossbred ewes ranged from 5s 9d to 6s 7d; fat cattle £3 2s 6d, £4 17s 6d, £5 7a 6d ; stores £2 5s j and fat pigs £1 8s each.
