AMBULANCE CLASSES.

TO THE KDITOB. Fit,—l frankly a *mit to "Dusty Miller" that there is a differerca between the studies of French or matha ratW, and of •'ambulance" Bit I fail to see what responsibility there is deteiring advanc>d students from teaching othera. Before vt ambulance " became the popular cr z\ suffering humanity remote from medical aid hae been dependent on the gumption »nd nerve ot the byutanders. "Arabulinoe," I take it, aims at gving to (he bystander additional in bandaging and treating the patient according tn the most modern and best approved surg'cal methods. .When onca a student ba^i , learned how to treat the wounded, he either can or cannot teach others. If he cannot, his lectures will prove of little value to htm in a time of necessity. It h when w« seek to put into practice what we have learned, i hit we find how much we don't kno*. Not having been i hrough the whota course I cannot assert -althoueh I think—that advanced students (of course they should he approved by the Awociation's lecturers) could undertake to teach junior classes outside of Ashburton. But I onca had the opportui i y of attending a few ambulance lectures at which bandaging, resuscitation of the drowning, and stoppage of bletding w<ra the aubjeots taught, and there was nothing; in these lectures thab an ordinary ■tudent could not successfully teach to others Still hoping to see means afforded to country students of participating ia these excellent lectures.—l am, ito.. W. Gee. Baapuna, June 17.
