MOUNT SOMERS.
The usual monthly meeting of the Mount SomerS Road Board was held laet Wednesday, Present-rMessrs Chapman (chairman), Herring, Hood, and Harrison. overseer's report. The overseer's report was read and con* flidired. I Monnt Pomers Tramway Koad.—The overueer reported having agreed with Mr Harvey to reform about twenty chainß of this road at 4s per'chain, and that the work was finished; cost £4.—Agreed to, Springburn Tramway Road.—The overseer reported having let the carting of broken metal on this road at Is 6d per yard.—Agreed to. Mr B. Corney interviewed the Board, and asked for a drain to be made on the side ot the road leading to his land* Agreed to, on on condition that he clear the stamps ten feet on the lide of the drain. RATES. The collector reported having sued several for rates which had been paid into Court, except one. The collector was instructed to take out more sommoas if necessary. PIT IN MR HOODS LAND. The clerk was instructed to get the transfer of this completed. CORBESPONDENCE. Prom the Ashburton Couaty Council, asking whether the JBoaTd would require a Copy of the valuation list. The olerk stated that he had written that a copy would be required. i'rom Messrs Fooka and Son, enclosing tracing of pit in R S. 18246— Received. Prom the Commissioner of Crown Land, reread to Messrs Hutt and Fagan's leasehold land; also agreeing to the Board's proposal for the expenditure of thirds and fourths.— Received. From the Upper Ashburton Road Board, resettlement of accounts between the two Boards.—Resolved that the clerk be appointed to act with the clerk of the Upper Ashburton Board to effect a settlement. TENDERS. Tenders were opened for drains near Mr Grant's, and that of 0. McWilliams was accepted at 6a 6d per chain. ACCOUNTS. The pay sheet, amounting to £38 3s 3d, was passed fsr payment, and the Board adjourned. The annual meeting of ratepayers of the Mount Somers road district was held last Wednesday. fe'efenteen ratepayers were present. Mr Chapman presided. The following balance sheet was read and considered :—Receipts—Rates collected, £586 lls 7d; other receipt?, £193 10s 3d ; overdraft March 31, 1895, £82 5s lCd-t'Bl2 7s Bd. Expenditure—Balance March 31, 1894, £126 7s 6:1; roads and bridges, £531 18s 8d; salaries and incidental, £145 43 2d ; interest and exchange on cheques, £8 17s 4d. Mr Peache proposed that the accounts be parsed, so f*r as this meeting can do so before the public audit.—Agreed to. A vote of thanks to the Chairman and retiring members was agreed to, and the meeting adjourned.
