COUNTY COUNCIL.
Following completes our report of yesterday's meeting:— PUNTING. Mr C. Reid applied for leave to break up the whole of the plantation reserve leased by him, to take one crop of turnips from ifc, and sow down in grass. Aa the land is now, he Baid, It was of little use for grassing, and he was of opinion that what he proposed would greatly improve It.— Mr Reid's application waa granted. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to about £500 were passed for payment. FINANCE. Mr Harper was «ppointed to act temporily on the Finance Committee, and Mr Williamson to act as Treasurer till the appoiutmenfe of a chairman. WATER BACK TAMPERING, Mr Collins wrote in explanation of the case of tampering alleged against him at lasb meeting, but the Council did not deem the explanation satisfactory. Mr Randell's explanation was received. MAYFIELD CBMETERY. Meesra Doyle and MacLauchlin waited upon the Council to request that an adjoining asre be gjven by the Councii to the May field Cemetery Board for cemetery purposes, in id^ft*oll to tn6 "^re previoasly given, and that the land be fenced. Xt waa resolved to grant an acre (more or less, to exclude the gully) and the sum of £7 to eresb a fence and pate, the understanding being that no further application be made to the Council for grants. . WATER SUPPLIES. Applications in connection with water supplies were granted to Messrs Pickering, J. Black, and T. D. Johnston. VALUATION KOLL. Several alterations were| ordered to be made on the roll on the application of parties interested. SLAUGHTERHOUSE LICENSES. Slaughterhouse licenses were granted to William Bradshaw, Tinwald j and Henry Stringfellow, Pendarves. POISONED GRAIN, £250 were voted for the purchase of poisoned grain. TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted : — Auxiliary channel, Methven—No 1, Me: William, Is 2d per chain ; So 2, McDowell and McGuire. Is per "pham. Fencing—J. Gibson, £4 15*. Wslerton main—No 1, Urquhart, Is 3d per chain ; No 2, Bell, Is 3d and 9d ; No 3, Bell, Is ; No 4. Williams and Soott, 6d. Lease of Chertsey plantations—G. Campbell, 1, 2, and 3, 2s 3d per acre. Planting—No 1, James Porter, £2 6a 6d } No 2, Millichamp, £112 a. Reserve, BakaU gorge, Boucher, 2s 6 i per acre. tfBXDGE BY-LAWS, The Council sat In Committee on the draft by-lawa 'proposed to apply to th«j regulation of traffic on the bridges onder the Council's control. . :
