(Before Wlr 0. A. Wray, SM., and Hon Major Steward, J.P. Civil Cases—Mrs Totti* v W. Gray, £3 4a. Judgment by default with costs Friedlander Bros, v James McMullan, £22. The amount claimed was for a promissory note, made by Thomas Simpson, and endorsed by defendant, and which had not been met when due—The evidence of Hugo triedlander and Ma?c Friedlander was to the effect that defendant had endorsed a promissary note on behalf of Thomas BtoiMon.—Wbiteford Steward, clerk m the Bank of New Zealand, gave evidence as to posting notice of dishonor of the Promissory note t* defendant-Defendant stated that, Stolon was owing £22 to Friedlander Bro'., uud witness agreed to be responsible for £5 at the tndof three months, on condition that at the expiration of >nat time Simpson's bill of £22 was to be renewed. The promissory note he had signed without examining it when given to him by Moritz Friedlander.—T. Simpson also gave evidence. Judgment for plaintiffs. Traction EireiNES.-The Magistrate farther reserved his decision m the two traction engine cases, as he had only just received the documents he had ashed for.
